This week was a good week, probably the best week since ive started there. Paige and I got to decorate the christmas tree in the office. We put ordiments and wrappings on it. We got paid to decorate instead of stuffing envolopes! it was a very cheerful week and I am really starting to enjoy this job because I am connecting with the employees a lot more. I love decorating for christmas on the job!!!
Jonathon Tomlian Mrs. Candela Web Design 8 June 2015 Bucket List final exam essay Introduction “You never know until you try, so make sure you live before you die”. Matthew E. fryer. Everyone has a goal that they would like to achieve. In my Web Design class, I was required to make a fabulous website based on what my three goals in life are. I had to focus on creativity with technology, and being involved with others. I was so lucky to be involved with such a wonderful class and teacher. I learned things in the class that I never even knew existed in the world of technology. Creating this website was not simple at all. But, I found my way to complete every single assignment at a time. While reflecting my overall learning experience for this class, I will outline that I never knew that I could be that creative with what I could do with technology. When I first walked into this class, I had no idea of what to expect. I did not expect for this class to be this difficult. But, at the same time, I felt that this is the class that I learned the most in out of my five classes for this trimester. Completing a goal in life should not have a price tag on it, it should come from the heart. In Web Design class, I felt that my new way of thinking will help me complete all of my goals in life. Page 1: index My first page is my index page. This is the page that sets the overall feeling and tone for my wonderful site. The content on this page represents my three goals, and talking about the steps I will do to make my goals come true. The layout decisions were very difficult to make and hard to do. The background I picked I thought will set the colors for the site. The footer is a very nice looking piece of the page itself. It gives you options to go to another one of beautiful pages. The color and font choices of the site were a pretty easy decision to make. The colors I chose were neon green and sky blue. Those are my two favorite colors and they match my website perfectly. I have always liked those colors because they were the color of my room when I was in grade school. The font size I used was Times New Roman and the size of the font was 12, so it could be easier to read. The buttons on the top of the page I made to match my website of course. The colors of the buttons were blue and neon green. I used a darker blue because it would look better on the site and would be easier to read the button. The logo of my website is a 100,000 dollar bill. I chose that to be the logo because it shows what I need to complete my goals and who wouldn’t want that much money. That is how I created the layout of my Index page for my website. Page 2: Fishing in the ocean The second page of my website is my goal of fishing in the ocean. This page has the most out of any other page because I did a lot of social media on this page, such as my animoto, my vimeo, and my scrolling marquee. On this page, a struggle that I figured out was the scrolling marquee code on Notepad++. The code is not that hard itself, it took a long time to get the pictures for it and something kept messing up that I did so it would not show up in my website. I was really confused with it for some reason, because I had no idea what could be wrong. To solve this problem, I decided to redo the whole scrolling marquee. The code for the marquee is “<marquee behavior="scroll" scrollamount="20" loop="10" direction="left" onmouseover="this.stop()"onmouseout="this.start()". I compared the new one I did to the old one which I did not save, and I felt very intelligent when I found out the problem. I had everything the same except I did not have a space between marquee and behavior in the beginning of the code. This mistake was really frustrating because time was very limited because the whole thing was do the next day and it was the end of class. That was a very big ah-ah moment for. Good thing that I redid the whole code because I don’t think that I would have caught that little mistake in the code. Page 3: Parasailing Everyone has something that they love about something. Just like I love the photo edit on page three of my website. The photo before was a picture of people on the beach chilling in the sand, and swimming. The photo after editing was a peaceful picture of no one on the beach besides the wonderful ocean. How did I do it? I will tell you. The main tool that I used on the picture is the spot healing tool. The spot healing tool is an eraser that you can use to get rid of people or things you do not like in the picture and just uses the background color to fill in the space. So it is like it isn’t even there. The second tool I used was the clone stamp. Usually when you edit something out using the spot healing tool, it leaves a smudge. To get rid of that smudge, I used the clone stamp to go over a good piece of sand, and put it over the smudge so it is like it is not there. My favorite Photoshop tool is the spot healing tool. I chose that because I always wondered how people got rid of stuff they did not like in the picture, and the answer is the spot healing brush! You just brush something you do not want in the picture like a pimple, and you let go of the mouse and it is gone! That is very cool. The tool that caused me the most problems was the magic wand tool, because it kept highlighting things that I did not want! It took forever to get that tool to work the right way. But all in all, Photoshop is a very cool tool to use. Page 4: skydiving There are always rules or a rubric to guide you to completion. The main things that we went by are the NETS benchmarks. The iste benchmarks are creativity and motivation, research and information fluency, communication and collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. I am going to tell you how I used all of those for my website. First of all, we used creativity by coming up with the colors and design for our website. We motivated ourselves with hard work and dedication to make the work we did look very pretty. Second, we used research and information fluency by looking around on the internet to get facts and things we forgot for the website. Like when I forgot how to make a list for my website on Notepadd++, I researched Google and got my result. Thirdly, we used communication and collaboration. We had to communicate with each other if we needed help and ask them for examples for what they did. Lastly, the most important one is critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. There are many purposes for doing this. We had to think about what our three goals were. That was probably the hardest one. We had to decide what our website name had to be and what tools we had to use for Photoshop. I had to choose the codes to use for what I wanted to go into my website. Everything that we did I feel was critical thinking. But in the motion of doing all of this, this was a very fun and educational thing to do. Page 5: Credits The page I think that looks the best on my website is my credits page. This is because it has my favorite code on it, the code to make a table. This is my favorite code because this is the thing that I leaned the fastest and I did it with no problems. There is a lot more to the table code but that is the code that starts the whole fun table. The code that I struggled most with is the rollover code. I have trouble with this code because it is a really big code and even if one letter is off, the whole code does not work. Everything has to be perfect in the code. We had to use this code on every one of our pages. The rollover code makes the buttons work to go to another page on my website. It is a very helpful code but does not look as good as the table code. The table is bigger, and attracts the reader’s attention for the page on my website. Conclusion In conclusion, Web Design is a very fun and educational course to take. The thing that I enjoyed most about web design is the Photoshop. I enjoyed that the most because I always wanted to learn how to Photoshop a good photo and now I know how to. I feel that my strengths are Photoshop and tables. I feel my weaknesses are the codes in Notepadd++. If I could change something I did in Web Design it would be my goals. I chose two really hard goals which are parasailing and skydiving. It was hard to take original pictures for it and hard to do the social media with it. I wouldn’t change the Photoshop stuff I did during the class. In my opinion, I made some really good looking pictures. I am more hard working when I am alone. This course will have some meaning in my life. Technology is growing rapidly in the world and it is great to have some knowledge the world of technology. I feel that if my siblings or a family member needed help with a website, I could help them out a lot with it thanks to this class. This contest benefited me as a person because my social and technology skills increased since I took this course. Overall, Web Design is a great class and I recommend it to students in the future.
My thoughts about this program is that it is pretty cool. I found the easiest part was the black and white because she did not talk as fast and you do not have to do as much. The difficult part about this was layer styling. I think that because there is a lot of stuff she went over and she went way too fast so I got lost pretty far in too. I enjoyed photography enhancements more because they look really cool. The best thing about that is putting two pictures inside one picture and enhance that. You can make some pretty cool stuff. My favorite filter was the colored pencil. You can make the front picture like a painting looking thing, but the background a nice original picture. That looks really cool to me. It looks like a post card and those are usually really cool. When using the clone stamp, it is better to click rather than drag because it is easier and faster. Feathering is pretty cool, it softens the edges and makes the picture look really pretty. I edited two pictures that used 6 tools in total, three tools on each picture. For the headphones picture, I started using the layer style, making the edges of the picture fire. Next, I used the effects tool, the effect was trace contour. Lastly, for this picture, I used an enhancement, The enhancement I used was converting the picture to Black and white. For the picture of the lake, I used the smart brush tool and made the water brighter by making it a lighter shade of blue, and made the sky a little bit darker like a sunset. Next, I put gaussian blur up too 61.4 where I thought the picture looked the best. Lastly for this picture, I used the spot healing brush and brushed it across the water to make it look pretty. This is my Typography of a wolf. The letters I used were lowercase f, two l's, and uppercase two W's, four O's and two L's. If you noticed, the letters I used spelled out wolf and the picture is a wolf. That is really cool!!
My best page for my website is my fishing page. Doing this was really hard and it was not fun. I was the most proud of my fishing page. I chose that one because it was the easiest to do. I do regret a lot my other goals which were skydiving and parasailing. Thank god Candela was nice enough to only let me do only the fishing page instead of the other ones. Considering that the other ones were really hard to do. The ups were that this project was pretty fun but the down was it took way to long.
The main color of my logo is green. Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money. That represents everything that inspired me to try to achieve my goals. The hex code of green is 006400. A good tagline for my website is "you're only a stranger once". The rendering process I thought was easy and hard. A hard part was thinking of a logo that fits your website good. The drawing part was pretty difficult because i am not really an artistic person. The easy part was drawing my picture in with color on photo shop. I liked that because we got to work with the tools to make it look nice. I really did not know what color to make it because I do not have an artistic mind at all. So overall it was medium difficulty.
My favorite feature of the first page on the website is the color. The bright and cool colors make the webpage stand out so it will attract the readers. My least favorite feature is how you think you did something right, but you go to the website and it is very wrong and not what you expected. If i had to rate my index, I would rate it a 7/10. I did that because it is not the best page, all that the page has is looks. It looks so cool with that lion in the background.

Mrs. Candella Web Design 4th of May, 2015 Goal Content My goal is to fish in the ocean. I completed this goal on vacation in Florida over the course of Spring Break 2015. My fun fact is that when I went to reel in the fish, I fell into the water. I was a little embarrassed but this did not stop me from trying. This goal was important to me because I love to fish. I have been fishing with my dad and my brother since the age of three. I have always loved fishing and always will love fishing. I am always trying to strive for larger goals and catching larger fish in the ocean would be the number one goal in regards to fishing.
My second goal is to go parasailing. I want to complete this goal because it is a great feeling to be in midair and feel the ocean breeze. My fun fact is the Oldest Parasailer - N.K. Mahajan in Lonavala, India. He was 88 years old when he did this feat. He is the oldest parasailer recorded in the Indian Limca Book of Records. This is important to me because my parents did it when they were around my age and they said it was really fun! I have not heard any bad things about parasailing but it is risky, but that is what makes it fun. I was inspired to go parasailing because I love the feel of freedom and it would be awesome.
My final goal is to go skydiving. I want to go because it is a great adventure to float through the sky and see the gorgeous earth. Everything would look so tiny. My fun fact is during freefall, the wind travelling past your ears is well over 100 mph. This much makes you deaf to all sounds you cannot hear a fellow skydiver. This is the reason your ears sometimes ‘pop’ while diving! This goal is very important to me because it is a very hard thing to strive for and one day, I will do it. When I chose this goal to accomplish, I thought of hard goal for the last goal. I did that because I will strive to complete it sometime in my life. It will be the freest feeling I will ever feel.
People don't like the font sizes most websites use because they are apparently "too small". But, it can be their age too. The older you are, the less internet you use. Also, if you're reader has bad eye sight, you will want them to read it. So that gets to the point of hating normal size fonts for their sights. It is understandable that they want their website to stand out and want people to read no matter what age or eye sight vision. I don't think it is the font type or the size of the font that makes people not like to use normal fonts. I think personally it is the color of the website that makes it hard to read. Yes it will be hard to read if it is less than 12 font, but anything above that should be very readable. The color of the website has a huge effect, you want to have a sight that stands out, but you want to make it readable to all users. So if you are the one who hates normal font sizes, try reconsidering the website color instead.
This week, we worked on photo shop. we have learned a lot this week, such as perfect portrait, realistic reflections, and style match. we also learned lomo, pop art. My favorite thing that I learned is perfect portrait. I like that because you can do a thing called "spot healing". It is the coolest thing ever! you can erase things in the picture that you do not want. And it will not affect the picture at all. Pop art is really cool too. Thanks to the creator of pop art Andy Warhol. When cross-processing, it is high intense saturation so be careful! you could also vignette, or darken the edges of your photo. I will always use the things we learned I my themed website because it will draw more attention to website by having really cool pictures and then they will read about them. This picture is representing the goal I want to do more of one day. Fishing in the ocean. For this photo, I used pop art. Which was created by Andy Warhol. I added a neon color to the picture, then duplicated the picture in 4 of them. Lastly for the picture, I turned the saturation of the picture up to 12. That is how I got this picture to look this great. For this photo, I took a picture of me pointing to the sky to indicate that my goal is to go skydiving. For this picture, I used the style matching option. I chose which one worked best with the picture (which was the one with the rope in the water) and used that. But, I made my arm look the same and made the rest o the picture black and white. I increased the saturation of the sky to make it stick out more. I expect myself to concur this goal one day because it is the most extreme! |
